U.K artist Lucy Sparrow has created an entire grocery store in felt. Currently open in Bentonville, Arkansas, “The Beginning of Convenience” calls up 90s supermarket nostalgia in the same town that is, not coincidentally, the birthplace of Walmart. “Stocked to the brim with more than 20,000 handmade objects, an expansive collection of soft, felt artworks take over a 4,000-square-foot gallery space, creating an immersive experience for visitors—or, more fittingly—shoppers.” And to keep it totally real, the old school supermarket music is occasionally interrupted by “familiar intercom announcements in a fuzzy tone, calling the parents or guardians of a lost young girl named Lucy to make their way to the photo department.” Full Story >>

Consider the screen door. Fundamental to the American home, it’s a lightweight aluminum or wooded frame bracketing screen wire. Air flows through it, connecting the indoors and the outside, so what’s cooking inside wafts into the neighborhood, and bird songs and the sounds of children playing enter the home. Lordy. Here they come. 

At the recent World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, two robots outran Usain Bolt. Tiangong Ultra, at 9.39 seconds, edged Lightning’s 9.47 seconds in the 100-meter. Bolt set the record of 9.58 seconds at the 2009 World Athletics Championships ​in Berlin. His race finish was far more graceful, though.
